About Dr. Brawer

I have been a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice since 1996. My primary focus is psychotherapy with adult individuals, couples, teens, and families.

In 1994, I received a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, Los Angeles/Alliant University, an APA-accredited doctoral program.

I worked in various mental health settings during my early career to build a strong foundation for developing my clinical skills. My experiences included providing psychotherapy and psychological assessment in a wide range of clinical settings, including community clinics with diversity in ethnicity, race, culture, beliefs, values, sexual identity, and gender orientation, child guidance clinic for children/teens suffering from abuse/neglect, nonpublic school for students with severe emotional/behavioral disturbance, residential treatment program for teenagers diagnosed with severe autism, family practice residency program/medical hospital, forensic unit in a state psychiatric hospital, inpatient psychiatric treatment center, and forensic psychology practice specializing in child custody/family law.

Throughout my career, I have rigorously pursued advanced intervention/assessment training in psychodynamic/psychoanalytic, attachment, experiential, and cognitive behavioral approaches to individual/couple and family therapy. My personal therapy has also been integral to my growth as a clinician.

My mission as a clinical psychologist is to help people learn how to get out of their own way in attaining a steady state of self-acceptance and satisfaction in work and relationships.
